Here's the thing. Rob is not blaming everyone equally. He is
specifically frustrated by software vendors who lag behind. These are
people who, it can reasonably be argued, should be at least *near* the
front.

Especially considering the IBM environment where (software) "innovation cycles" have always been happening in a more endurable pace compared to the crazy PC industry. At least this is my perception.

If the pace is not so strenuous, then that is all the more reason to
expect the software vendors to at least stay within the pack that is
near the front.
