A slightly different perspective: IBM does a much better job of quality
control in their software than the open source vendors (those that deal in
Linux and associated pieces/parts). Apple and Cisco do a stealer job as
well, so by not updating to the latest after saying about 30 or 60 days
after release, you just hurt yourself in terms of feature/function.

The beauty is, you get to decide, so what ever works for you.

1 - If "everyone" waits, who are you waiting on?
2 - To get the new features. Stuns me the guys who belittle IBM i for not
having certain features (temporal tables for example) and then don't upgrade
to the release having that for a few years.
3 - Cause I'm a nice guy.
4 - Because when I ran cross country you didn't get any trophies if you let
others lead to see if the ground was uneven or had snakes or ground hornets.
5 - If you wait way too long the trailblazers can't remember the pain. For
example if someone asks what difficulties did you have upgrading to 7.3 I'm
like "that was what 5-6 years ago, I can't remember".

Perhaps because I put on the latest release as soon as possible.

Why? No offense meant!

Debian Linux, Cisco ASA & IOS, macOS, you name it. I've learned to always
stay behind the latest and greatest, but to a still supported level (of
course, so I still get security updates): May overly eager early adopters
fight the bugs which are *always* there in a new (major) release.
