You know, as I've been watching this thread drift further and further away from the basic issue of allowing a report PDF generated out of an RPG program to be circulated among interested parties, and allowing them to (at least) add to it, I failed to consider that there might be something built into Reader that both I and the customer were ignoring.

It seems that while one would need either the full Acrobat (or some other PDF editing tool) to change EXISTING values, Reader 11 has a "Fill & Sign" tab on the toolbar, that allows one to ADD new text to a PDF, which can then be saved, and it seems to work quite well with a sample of the previous generation of this customer's RPG-to-AFP-to-PDF reports.

So it doesn't have to be a "form" after all; any static PDF will evidently do.

And that is probably good enough for the desired project.
