You don't need AFP to fill out a PDF form or to create a PDF form document.

You will next to learn some Java and iText though or maybe pay someone to write you a wrapper.

Pete Helgren did a wrapper around the Jasper Reporting engine several years back.

Not sure if that' still available or not.

Either way the direct answer to your question is No, but the indirect answer is Yes it is possible with some effort.

Seems like an odd question to come from another 3rd party software vendor.

Partner up with another 3rd party company like HelpSystems or put on the development gloves and get to work.

subject: Quick question about AFP-to-PDF

My Fellow Midrange Geeks and Geekettes:

I know this is a long shot, but is it possible, when generating a PDF through the AFP-to-PDF functionality in the OS, to generate one that's a fill-in form?

Or failing that, is there something comparable or better, in terms of ease-of-use, for generating PDFs out of ILE RPG programs, that doesn't involve buying some expensive third-party product?

FWIW, the current PDF generator for this particular customer was probably one of my first forays into using an AFP print file, rather than just SCS, because while it does use AFP functionality and fomts, it still uses an overlay rather than page segments.
