Dave, we've already cleared up the confusion of RDP terminology. (Yes it was called WDSc, then RDi, then RDP, now RDi again.) You've also had some useful advice on using a VPN. But just to clarify, I have a (few) questions for you.

Can you connect to your IBM i - now - from home? (For example, green-screen emulator.) If so, is this done via a "direct" connection, or are you accessing via your Office PC, (i.e remote desktop)? (Just trying to understand your circumstances.)

You say you wish to access the IBM i using RDi from home. Is this to support self-learning of RDi? (Since you don't have the product at work, it suggests you are aiming to try out the 120-day free trial - a very worthwhile effort, I might add.)

Depending on your answers, you may get some additional help and advice.

Brian.

Hi,

Does anyone use Rdp on a laptop at home to connect to the i at work? I can
connect to my PC at the office, but our shop doesn't have RDP so I want to
try on my own computer. I'm guessing that this is not going to be easy.
