So you are using Remote Desktop Services (RDS), aka (Terminal Services) to
remote into your office PC from your home laptop.

That setup doesn't offer any functionality for running RDi (or ACS) on the
home laptop and connecting to your office IBM i.

You'll need to either
- connect to the office LAN via VPN
- install RDi on the office PC.

Sorry I should have said RDi, wasn't it RDP for a while? You know, the WDSC
thing!
We use RDS to connect to the PC in the office. As I said, I don't have RDi
on my office PC and I want to use a version installed on my laptop at home
I'll ask about the VPN

Dave,

Normally, most companies require use of a VPN for connecting from home,
for security reasons, so that should take care of any "firewall" issues,
as
once connected via VPN, you are virtually "inside the corporate
firewall."

And then, you should be able to connect WDSCi or RDi etc., normally, just
like when you are "on site."

I hope that helps,

All the best,

Hi,

Does anyone use Rdp on a laptop at home to connect to the i at work? I
can
connect to my PC at the office, but our shop doesn't have RDP so I want
to
try on my own computer. I'm guessing that this is not going to be easy.
