Unbelievable? I wish that it were. Do you know how much PR work some of us have to do for our iSeries in our company to keep users for campaigning for different different platforms? All because somebody's buddy at company X can do function Y on their Windows/SQL Server/Unix/Oracle box that we don't offer? Can we do it on the iSeries? You bet. For less money, with less staff, faster, more securely and more reliably. But if we're not delivering those kinds of solutions to our users, if we're not learning new tools, techniques and technologies that's what they think of us. We make ourselves look bad and we make the platform look bad. We perpetuate the stereotype. Of course, the people on this list aren't the problem. Anyone who bothers to read this list is obviously interested in learning and expanding their horizons, so we're all preaching to the choir. The problem is the other people in our shops who refuse to keep up with the times. Mike E.
