Zend received many complaints from AIX users in particular (same Power
hardware platform) asking why it wasn't free for them.

That's funny. Last I checked an AIX license was priced at something like
$150 per core - not enough room for bundling a Zend server with it for
free. Whenever organizations offer products and services "for free", it
generates a sense of public entitlement, and the cajoling for public
entitlements never ends.
