   Subject: RE: Tape Rotation Schedul= e ?

We have a seven week rotation = for our tapes with end of month tapes
   being
removed from the rotation. &= nbsp;Even with that there are times we
   wished we had
   a longer rotation.
By the way, 400 gigabytes on one cartridge? Wow. We cou= ld probably use
   one
tape to backup all of our systems for three nights.

I know the "historic" and auditor approved standard for daily ta= pe
   backup
rotation has been 21 days. We just got the 3581-H23 in and it = can go
   400GB
compressed on a single cartridge. This compares to the 7GB = on the 9427
   8mm
drive we currently have. The cartridges also go for arou= nd $111.00 so I
   am
being asked to ascertain we need 21 days, and would 1= 4 be OK, etc.

What is everyone else doing ?
