We use a 3590 as well. That's the way we did it when I came her= e over 3
years ago and we'll probably keep doing it. That would definitely = help
our restores. I just ran a query to see what percent of objects are sa ved
with the SAVCHGOBJ in one of the heavily used libraries and I saved
428= objects since our full save last week - 3,014 objects have not been
change= d. So in our case we may be better off with savchgobj....

Subject: RE: Tape= Rotation Schedule ?

WOW - that is= a LONG retention Chris. We tried that SAVCHGOBJ route where
   I
used to w= ork (a BPCS shop). We would do the SAVLIB on the first day of
   the
week a= nd then the SAVCHGOBJ the other days. By day THREE we were
   basically
sav= ing everything we would have with the SAVLIB ! We couldn't BELIVE
   that
m= any objects were getting "touched" on a daily basis. So we scrapped
that<BR= >and went with SAVLIB. Made the restore process easier. Of course
we had a<= BR>3590 tape drive that SCREAMED.

We do keep monthly and yearly back= ups permanently.

What tape drive are you folks using ?

   Thanks= ,

   Chuck
