Another trick might be to plug the AS400 into a little hub of it's own. The ethernet card seems to get very lonely very quickly if it doesn't have a link. So, plug in a little hub on the same UPS as the AS400 and then the 400 won't care (as much) what happens to the switch. -----Original Message----- From: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com [mailto:owner-midrange-l@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Chris Bipes Sent: Wednesday, July 12, 2000 1:54 PM To: 'MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com' Subject: RE: Ethernet switch question The AS400 does not like to loose its lines. Check the recovery parameters on your line description for the Ethernet port. Also check all your controllers attached to the line. TCP/IP is designed for and tolerant to line glitches, SNA is not. When our switch is reset, we loose the SNA between two AS400s but none of the IP connections. Heck ANYNET also has no problems. We then changed recovery to 99 tries 300 seconds and now have no problems with the switch being reset. Try it and let us know the results. Christopher K. What I want to know is - when it is reset, it doesn't bother the NT servers, the Windows workstations, or the Macintoshes on our LAN. Why does our 400 get so upset? Is there a setting I need to check? +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
