We have 40 Mapics R6 Users, about 35 PC's/Laptops, one server for
storage and email, one iSeries 720.  We have one manufacturing location
and all users are on-site.

Up until a year ago, I was the sole member of the IT Department for the
past 5 years.  I now have one RPG programmer on staff.  Four years ago I
was 'given the opportunity' to manage the server when they fired the
engineer who was doing it.  At that time I was strictly an RPG
programmer....

My programmer handles the majority of the help desk calls and most of
the programming projects.  I handle the rest....

My IT department supports 135 R6 MAPICS (IFM, IM, MRP, PCC, COM, IFM,
CAS, PUR, EPDM and Browser) users, 300+ P/C users worldwide (75 of which
are engineering users), two manufacturing locations, 45 mobile devices
(Blackberries) and provides all voice/data support.  I have one AS/400
programmer, one VB apps developer (mostly to support engineering), one
help desk person, one network administrator, one server support person,
and me (manager and AS/400 programmer).

 

I'm curious as to the size and organization of other MAPICS shops and
how many IT folks you have on staff and in what roles.

 

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
