Rebranding WDSCi-lite to RDi and calling it a completely different
product seems a bit like calling OS/400 V5R4 i5/OS V5R4 and expecting
everyone to believe it is something different. IANAL and don't even
play one on TV but I am curious to see the wording in the maintenance
contracts for entitlements to future upgrades. I bet an attorney
specializing in class action lawsuits would like to look at this too
especially since IBM/Rational is even calling this "new" RDi product
version 7.1.
We very rarely need to place support calls and when questioned about
the need for a SWMA our BP always stresses the most important feature
of a SWMA is upgrade protection. If IBM can rebrand any product at
anytime and call it something new then what's the real value of a
SWMA?
