Hi Justin, there are several big applications written in VARPG, the largest that I know of, is from an Italian ISV, SanMarco Informatica. SanMarco has written their ERP package in VARPG for the frontend and RPGIV for the backend business logic. They have a couple of hundred VARPG modules and they have several hundred customers that run their Galileo ERP package in production, so we know VARPG scales. If you encounter problems with VARPG, just contact IBM support, it is a fully supported IBM product and if there are bugs that need to be fixed open an APAR. It might work for simple applications but not much more. It is not object-oriented, which becomes more of an issue the more complex your application becomes. We have one application and it crashes persistently. It also does not support EIM, which is holding us back. The latest planning statement eludes to some future overhaul but there is no telling if and when that will happen. -- This is the Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries (WDSCI-L) mailing list To post a message email: WDSCI-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/wdsci-l or email: WDSCI-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/wdsci-l.
