My first example of that had to do with the amounts of data we wanted to make available. It was just too hard to cram it all in, and we had performance issues. Then we decided to use a tabbed notebook, and build just a couple of the more popular tabs and deliver it to users. Their feedback proved very useful, and as we added tabs, at our pace, we made a full blown and sophisticated application that was well received and required almost no training for new users.
I must say, those VARPG applications made me realize there is no reason for the system i shops top go anywhere else. This is a personal opinion only, but in my opinion browser aps are nice but they will never displace Word or Excel.

My answer to the question, 'Is VA-RPG worth looking into?', would be not at this time. It might work for simple applications but not much more. It is not object-oriented, which becomes more of an issue the more complex your application becomes. We have one application and it crashes persistently. It also does not support EIM, which is holding us back. The latest planning statement eludes to some future overhaul but there is no telling if and when that will happen.
