Both of these books are from a Java perspective though correct? If
I'm not interested in moving to Java how would they help
me use WDSC
with RPG?

WDSC: Step by Step will walk you through not only the Java side but
also the RPG side of WDSC. It's not in-depth, but it's
enough to get
past the initial hurdle.

I guess when I was looking for this kind of book I didn't find it in
depth enough for me. Fair enough.

I read the books. Were they enough to make me comfortable with the tool?
No. Did they get me started? Yes.

I can't even imagine what you mean by this. WDSC is an incredible
tool with
tons of goodies. It just doesn't have YOUR particular goodie.

Isn't that the point? Shouldn't it have all the goodies necessary to
develop a complete iSeries app? I' m not asking for anything more.

With the use of Wdsci and Code Designer I am pretty much complete -
I seldom ever go back to the Green Screen. What else do you consider
necessary?

If you (or your employer) can't afford a $700 PC, then you need to
stick
with SEU.

Interesting. I should stick with SEU even though IBM will
abandon it.
because my employer will not invest 700 for me to use a "free" tool.

It really comes down to pressing to learn the tool. It will run on
a pretty cheap pc if you don't mind a little slow down here and there.
Learning is painful and there is no real short cut. You just have to do it.

Rick
