I don't know it for a fact but I believe that they do send out top level specs to the major vendors. Do we consider IBM a major vendor? I know that HP got them and quickly put them in the bottom draw. One of the messages I got from the VistaUpgradeAdvisor scan on my desktop machine is that it would not work with the 3570c HP Flat Bed Scanner. That began with IE7. I certainly will not be loading Vista on that machine.
