LookAhead fields were originally intended for looking at the next card in the MFCU (multifunctional card unit) on the 360 and System/3's. There were situations where level breaks were insufficient or unworkable. I mean, I guess one could still use them though that was the only time that I ever did. But, if you really wanted to mess with the mind of the programmer in the next cubicle...

because the cycle is old-school, it's icky, and it will bite you in places
where you don't want to be bitten (unless that's your kick of course ;-)
