I learned to program without the cycle, but there are times when I still use
it. Like any feature of any programming language, it has its uses; you just
have to know when to use it to the best advantage (although I never quite
understood lookahead fields or matching records). :)

because the cycle is old-school, it's icky, and it will bite you in places
