     Rob, I've been considering looking into something like that. I'd 
     embed SQLCLI routines into the RPG program to support the SQL 
     functions. I'm sure there's got to be a lot more going on there 
     that I don't understand, but on the surface, it seems doable. The 
     biggest problem is a lack of details on the compiler itself. It 
     could be a fun research project......

So, has anyone written their own SQL precompiler?  I know there are people 
out there who do not use the SQL precompiler but instead they imbed all the 
calls, data structures and whatnot themselves.  Therefore this isn't 
anything you need access to W code or MI for.
