We all have different experiences and maybe none of it is a technology problem but a people problem. Our i5/iSeries/AS400 has not crashed for over 10 years. (My definition of crash is the server stops being able to respond to any requests. One service going down I do not call a server crash) We had three Windows 2003 servers crash in the last week. One was a cluster running Exchange 2007 and all of Exchange died until the cluster was rebooted. We also had an AD server go to 100% CPU and needed rebooted although no one noticed this and a server running network printer services froze and all printers stopped printing until the server was rebooted. I will also add that our Windows DNS, DHCP, SQL and FTP servers have never crashed, they have been very rock solid.

What I mean by that is most all
shops would agree that i5/OS is more stable than Windows.

Not sure I'll agree... Both will crash, and both can run for years w/out
a reboot. Look at the track record of a _modern_ Windows server and
you'll see it's a rock. Remember, _MODERN_ and _SERVER_!!! I don't care
about what your Windows 2000 server did last century, and I don't care
about your desktop, there is no desktop i5/OS.
