Yeah, we used to try networking to control who could get to our FTP site. However NAT and the fact that one of our major customers purchasing agents was taking night classes offsite and wanted to connect from whatever café she was at put the halt to that.

Ps:
NAT = Network Address Translation. Basically if your PC's address at work is an internal address of 10.10.5.13 it may be known on the internet as any one of a random range, for example, 208.55.12.x - 208.55.12.y based on the range of NAT addresses provided to your company.
