Totally agree with this. Not having hardware to support a new release
is not a valid excuse. Talk to Brad, he connected with IBM's team to
obtain a new server which will support at the least rNext and maybe
rNext+1. He seems happy with the cost and the machine acquired.
For those that don't want hardware there is cloud. At one point an IBM i
software in our cloud had 10 different partitions between AIX, Linux,
and IBM i. At the time i 7.3 was announced they jumped on that immediately.
I realize some packages are very release agnostic but they still should
have at least some way to test and validate each release. Honestly it's
sad when you see a vendor that won't even go that far. They certainly
lose my recommendation in such situations.
