We have a wide range of scanners here - mostly Psion-Teklogix though.

If you need 2d scanners, get CK-31s (or their successors). Their 2d engine is the fastest I have seen so far.

If you only need 1d (linear) barcode scanning, look at the Teklogix 7545 Omnii scanners with autorange imagers. They're fast and accurate.

We use Intermec CK31ex. We have the imager models. If they will never
need to scan 3D barcodes, I'd suggest NOT getting the imager models due to
slower scanning, shorter range, and in our case, more maintenance.

We use CK31's here. They have multiple emulation setup, so the user
could switch between 5250 emulation for iSeries work and VT100 terminal
emulation for barcode system work.
