That's a vague question.

What kind of connection do you have back to the server?
How are the scanners to be used? In conjunction with the PC? A batch
process? As portable terminals?
Is the software running on the iSeries? Is it designed to support
scanners? Is it implemented on the handhelds?
Etc, etc, etc.

Assuming you just want to scan barcodes into the emulation session on
the PC, a simple keyboard wedge and pretty much any scan head will work
fine.

In our particular case, we use wi-fi capable handhelds (Intermec, HHP,
Motorola, etc) running 5250 emulators (mostly Naurtech's ce5250 these
days) that direct connect back to our iSeries via plain old TCP/IP. The
applications the users access were custom written for use with the
scanners, plain old green screen apps accessible by any 5250 capable
device.

And then there are much more complicated situations involving scripting,
screen mapping, and such.
