Thanks Lukas.
"Is your LIC broken?" I think so, although the lines between LIC, OS, LICPGM's and configuration settings like TCP/IP and web servers are unclear to me. It was Deja Vu all over again. I was loading the latest CUME at the recommendation of IBM to see if it would "fix" the problem I have been having with the JS12 (Yeah, I know, it doesn't make sense because the blade would drop without even starting the i partition). In any case, while at the final step of setting the IPL status of each of the PTF's in the CUME, the SAS drives disappeared again and then the blade went casters up. The next IPL gave me the dreaded "link loader failure" error B600 0901 and now I can IPL from A side but not B. Last time I saw this I had to reinstall but that was a scratch install. No data had yet been copied to the system.

Follow up to your answers:

Do I have to load the licensed programs again? Or is this just the LIC that gets installed?

I haven't done this before. Most of my experience is with scratch installs so I know the amount of work that needs to be done in that case. I just want to install only what I need to install to get this guy back on his legs (if I can).

Plus #3: How do I reload from DVD just IPL to DST and Load Operating System?

If so, you may need to IPL from DVD to reinstall
the LIC. It really depends on the SRC you get.

If this is just a testing machine, i'd just go and reinstall the LIC.

All the docs you'll need are here:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v6r1m0/index.jsp

In the "iSeries" infocenter ;)

What you want to do is this:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v6r1m0/index.jsp?topic=/rzahc/upgradesameversion.htm

1. Can I re-load the OS without hammering my data?

Of course.

2. If I don't lose my data, what do I lose by re-installing the OS?

PTFs have to be reinstalled. I've done this a few times, but some
system components sometimes gave my trouble afterwards - mostly ESA or
the admin webserver.
