Re: Tape Drive Configuration

I think you only use this as a library if you are using TSM or BRMS.

I have two 3582's.  One configured as a library with two drives in it.
One configured as two separate tape drives.
I set up the library as "random" and use it for TSM.  (TAPMLB01)
I set up the drives as sequential and use it for traditional SAV's.  One 
drive configured to one lpar, the other on another.  And, when one 
cartridge fills up, it goes to the next one.  (TAP02, and TAP04)

I also have a couple of 3581's.  Configured as sequential, not random. 
Configured as drives, not libraries.
