Thanks Rob and Chris. How do I know if the drives are in sequential mode or not? -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Chris Bipes Sent: Tuesday, March 14, 2006 12:00 PM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: RE: Tape Drive Configuration NO! You do NOT want to do a SAVSYS in library mode but sequential mode. Make sure the drive is in sequential mode and the tape drive, not library, is varied on. Library mode is only used with near line storage software such as TSM or BRMS. There are probably 2 more tape devices out there. Something like TAP07 and TAPLIB02. Try this: Very off tape drive. Very on tape library Initialize and load up library with tapes. For ease of use, create different volume names. It helps to locate which tape object are saved on! Save to tape library. Fritz Hayes
