Tape Drive Configuration

We are using a 3581 L23 tape drive on an 810 V5R2. Dumb question coming,
when we installed it, I'm sure we used the auto config. This drive holds 6
tapes. Is there anything additional you need to do if you are doing a go
save 21 so that it automatically goes to a second loaded tape if need be. We
don't use any tape management system. Do the tapes need to be initialized
with the same volume name?
