There's absolutely no issues taking an iSeries disk and installing it on a PC. I've done it numerous times. You may need to re-lowlevel format the drives (using the SCSI card's built-in utils), but after that the drives are perfectly normal. If you google around for "DOD wipe" or "secure drive erase" sort of terms, you should find something either freeware or reasonably cheap. I don't recall what we use here off-hand.
