Sprint has a card for laptops that lets you use their PCS Vision from anywhere a Sprint cel phone will work. Speed is supposed to be about twice that of a modem. It's not cheap but enables access from pratically anywhere. Personally, I use a Treo Palm/cel phone. I have access to corporate email, web browsing, TN5250, etc. While it doesn't really replace my laptop, it'll due if I'm out of the office for a couple of days. Battery life is the biggest concern. -----Original Message----- From: rob@xxxxxxxxx [mailto:rob@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, September 16, 2003 10:50 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: RE: COMMON at Gaylord Palm, Orlando Never use the calling cards from your room - they do charge for that. Some hotels even block all 800 numbers registered to calling card companies. I had a gas station pay phone which blocked both 800-call-att and whatever the number was for MCI. Have you heard of a cell phone? However I can see your modem concerns. Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
