My personal feeling notwithstanding, I think it's a strong statement about how badly this outsourcing issue is affecting us as a community when many of us now use a "is this training my replacement" filter to answer newbie questions for fear we are contributing to our own unemployment. It is sad that this happens in this forum, traditionally a shining light of equality and opportunity (even if that occasionally meant the opportunity to be pummeled equally by all <grin>). Sad, and an indication of how truly abandoned by the corporations we all feel. I submit we're still a lot more open than other industries. Try to find a mailing list on bioengineering. Or perfume design. Or microchip fabrication. Chances are that nobody is sharing information in those fields. It is forums like this and the Open Source movement that have brought so many of us together and given so many around the world such wonderful opportunities and are ironically now the first to suffer when those opportunities are turned against us. Anywho, this can get religious real quick, so I'll step out after this. Dave, I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just asking that you keep a relatively open mind. It's not a Pollyanna world anymore, and some of the people on this list are in real danger of losing their jobs, quite possibly to people who may have used these lists for basic education. Joe
