To make a folder on the 400, run

md

on a command line (or mkdir or crtdir) You name the folder just as in Windows, except you don't use a drive letter. Actually, more like Unix. So to create the folder MyFolder in the root,

md '/MyFolder'

You DO need to use OpsNav to share this folder - well, not really, but it's a lot easier. Go to File Systems->File Shares and right-click, then Open *** NetServer.

Once the share is defined, it's exactly like file shares in a Windows network. You need the server name and the share name.

\\servername\sharename

I need a short tutorial on creating a folder on the IFS (not in QDLS) and
being able to access it from the iSeries and a user PC.

1) Can I do this from OS400? Or am I stuck with OpsNav?
2) What are the steps to create and share this folder?
3) How do I reference this folder from the PC?

Thanks,
Trevor
