If you check the archives, I believe there has been at least one discussion of converting reports to PDF files, which could presumably be sent via e-mail from the AS/400. If you're feeling adventurous, I have created some Visual Basic modules that will extract data from an AS/400 file, place the information into an Excel spreadsheet, and then send the spreadsheet out via e-mail that I would be happy to send you. They are written in version 4, but I'm hoping to eventually convert them to .NET and use sockets instead of ODBC. If nothing else, you can probably copy the spooled files to a physical file with all control characters using CPYSPLF and send that file via e-mail, but I've never tried it. Hope that helps. The normal routine has been to run the queries that generated these reports and then mail them out. And obviously that takes time. <clip>
