Hi Chuck,

We use a product by ASC (Advanced Systems Concepts) to email reports. Their
product is called ESend.
With in ESend you can create some forward rules that will automatically pick
up a specific spooled file and email it to a person(s). You can also setup
some distribution rules that can look for certain information on the printed
report - like customer name or number and email just those pages to the
customer. We use this for sending some of our customer statements via email
rather than mail then.
We also have a supervisor report we wrote that shows the supervisors
employees and the hours they worked last week and we then email only there
pages to their supervisor. Some of our VP's get the whole report so we have
a distribution rule to send the complete report to these people.

Give ASC a call and see about getting a free trial period. ASC -
847-605-1131 ask to speak with Scott Schramer or Teresa Gilson.

This product is pretty powerful for what we consider a minimal cost.

Subject: Email Reports

Hi Folks,

We have had our remote sales force ask that reports be emailed to them. The
normal routine has been to run the queries that generated these reports and
then mail them out. And obviously that takes time.

We are on V4R5 (hoping to upgrade be on V5R2 real soon on a new box.)

So is anyone doing anything like this ?

I'm aware of some of the third party tools. So any feedback on them would be
fine. Also any home grown stuff ?

And this might be a stupid question, but if our AS/400 does not have a
public address, is this even possible ? We have a VPN setup where folks can
get to our AS/400 remotely.

Thanks,

Chuck
