Ooh, now I'm mad! Calling me a "Hoosier". I may be unlucky enough to work in Indiana but I live and love in Michigan :) Go MSU!!!! Dave Leland p.s. Of course, we use SNDEMAIL and we use Spool-a-Matic from Gumbo Software. We e-mail hundreds of reports daily (over a thousand on the last day of the month). -----Original Message----- From: rob@xxxxxxxxx [mailto:rob@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, March 27, 2003 2:36 PM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Re: Email Reports We are using IBM's InfoPrint Server. You can't get from the internet to this iSeries except via VPN. However this iSeries can get to the internet. To test if your iseries can do this try CALL QCMD PING NRA.ORG They don't block pings. If all that works for you then you should be able to send email from that iSeries. Before we used InfoPrint Server we would convert the spool files to disk files and use SNDEMAIL from Dave Leland ( a Hoosier). He had SNDEMAIL published in News/400 or whatever the name of the day is. The normal routine has been to run the queries that generated these reports and then mail them out. And obviously that takes time. We are on V4R5 (hoping to upgrade be on V5R2 real soon on a new box.) So is anyone doing anything like this ? I'm aware of some of the third party tools. So any feedback on them would be fine. Also any home grown stuff ? And this might be a stupid question, but if our AS/400 does not have a public address, is this even possible ? We have a VPN setup where folks can get to our AS/400 remotely.
