Chuck, Just to add to the list of comments/eperiences... We use the SNDEMAIL utility published by News400 (iSeries Network). It's not fancy but it will handle a single attachment (spool file) with no problem. Converting a spool file to an IFS text file is a no-brainer. It also worked fine under V4R5. Been running it for a couple of years with *no* problems. Our mail goes out thru our local M$-Exchange server, but I believe any SMTP complient mail server will work providing you can get to it across your network :) The only problem we encountered was a break-up and/or loss of large spool files. To solve this you must change the AS/400 POP attribute for message splitting to *NOMAX (CHGPOPA MSGSPLIT). Of course, the mail server on the other end may puke when it gets a large attachment (we had this happen with an older version of M$-Exchange :).
