We use an inexpensive package from KemeTech System that does exactly that - www.kemetech.com. I just chuckle to myself when I read all the posts about people who want to "roll-their-own" or who are creating CSV files using CPYTOIMPF, and then complain about the quality of the resulting file, when there are inexpensive packages that actually create an XLS file, complete with headers and simple formulas (=SUM, =AVG, etc.). CSV won't work here, the user absolutely, positively will not accept anything but an honest-to-god XLS file. And we want to generate and e-mail the XLS file with no user intervention, so the package would need a command interface. I know about SEQUEL, but my boss thinks it's too pricey. I'm working on learning Java, so I once I feel comfortable with it, I suppose I could use HSSF, but I'm going to scare people if I make them call Java programs from RPG.
