encapsulate your java programs in RPGLE procedures. That way, no-one has to
know the business end is Java. We have a consultant who is scared to death
of SQL. So when I write data access procedures for him to use, I just give
him the procedure name and he has no idea that it is SQL. The downside to
that is if it is not documented somewhere, the next guy will probably wish
that you get Herpes because he can't find out what is actually doing the
work.

Thanks,

Does anyone know of any packages out there that will allow you to create
XLS files from PF's? CSV won't work here, the user absolutely, positively
will not accept anything but an honest-to-god XLS file. And we want to
generate and e-mail the XLS file with no user intervention, so the package
would need a command interface.

I know about SEQUEL, but my boss thinks it's too pricey. I'm working on
learning Java, so I once I feel comfortable with it, I suppose I could use
HSSF, but I'm going to scare people if I make them call Java programs from
RPG.
