Someone else came up with the answer to my problem - I needed to open both
files in the same mode (O_TEXTDATA).

Okay - any thoughts on how to read it differently? I'm using the following
statement to open it:
Eval AttachDesc = open(%ADDR(FullName)
            : O_RDONLY + O_CODEPAGE
            : S_IRWXU + S_IRWXO
            : st_codepage)

and then just using the read() API to read it.

Dave,

Maybe it's the way you're reading the second file (before you copy it to
the
first file) that is messed up.
