Mike, forgive me for being flippant, but if the user 'absolutely, positively, will not accept anyting but an honest-to-god XLS file', and he/she actually has the pull to make such an unreasonable mandate, tell him/her that the cost of purchasing SEQUEL will come out of her/his budget! ;) as far as other options - I've never done this, but can't you (at least 'semi') automate the process of importing external data (in this case, a .csv) into an excel template file, creating a new excel spreadsheet? Maybe a VB macro, or some such. good luck, rick ----original message----- Does anyone know of any packages out there that will allow you to create XLS files from PF's? CSV won't work here, the user absolutely, positively will not accept anything but an honest-to-god XLS file. And we want to generate and e-mail the XLS file with no user intervention, so the package would need a command interface. I know about SEQUEL, but my boss thinks it's too pricey. I'm working on learning Java, so I once I feel comfortable with it, I suppose I could use HSSF, but I'm going to scare people if I make them call Java programs from RPG. Mike E.
