try getting one of the pc cheapo cards to respond to diagnostics! (sorry-no
industry standards)
I pay more for far better reliability.
(my new Dell (never again) has already had cd-rom & keyboard replaced in the
1st 6 months).
Running a business server demands the highest reliability. Recommending
throw-away equipment? Not me.
If I had my own development machine, i would expect the same reliability.
Imagine a comm problem via ethernet, and not knowing whether the problem is
the wire or the eth card, or the comm controller, or the OS. My time is
worth too much to EVER be bothered with hardware problems.
As one net tech told me, they buy throw away cards cause their so cheap. Now
takes 3-$40,000 a year techs to keep the pc net stuff running! NOT cheap!
