I did not upgrade but Installed a new AS400 by first added the necessary
user profiles manually. Then creating the subsystems manually. The job
queues, out queues... This took lots of time. Then I restored our
application libraries and data libraries. I had to configure the whole
system from scratch, what a PAIN. But I replaced a CISC 3.2 system with a
4.4 RISC system without going to 4.3 first. The 170 came with 4.4 and we
did not have 4.3. This was a new box not an upgrade even though we replaced
the CICS with it. So if you are not upgrading, you can install/restore your
user applications to the 270 and there is NO road map for this. Lots of
work! Very clean install ;>)

This is crazy! I've ordered a brand new 270. I don't want to migrate
anything over EXCEPT my user program and data libraries. Why do I have
to
go through a 100 page roadmap and 270 page software installation guide?

I should just be able to turn on the 270, and do RSTLIB's. Why is this
process so difficult? My source 400 is on V4R4. Why can't a 270 that
has
V4R5 just restore previous libraries?

If I want to restore a customers tape from V4R2, I can't?!?

There has got to be support for restoring customer data from previous
releases in V4R5!
