What percentage had OS400?

So why make a decision to put SOCKS config on windows only?

Leave OpsNav and CODE for those who want to use it, but dont make it
compulsory for those who dont.

>It was US, You and Me, the AS/400 customers that said "IBM, Wake up. We

As you said - what choice did we have?

Now we have a choice, and some dont wish to be tied with Windows
95/98/NT/2000/+... no matter how good the marketing.

Although Linux might not be ideal for the average desktop user, it is ideal
for the average communications IT chappie... ie the ones who configure
SOCKS, routers etc.

So... why make windows a pre-requisite for configuring the AS400?

NB GUIs are a _good_ way of attracting those who haven't used text-screens
before. They are good for novices (I use them all the time).. OopsNav is
_good_.... but GUIs will never be as versatile as commands, and dont lend
themselves to automation - which is what I always strive for.
