I could not agree more. When our network is crashed, the green screen still work! They just work and work and work. Yes I us a Win98 PC for my programming, e-mail, etc. I would love to be able to automate some of the stuff on the AS400 without having to use a PC. Christopher K. What percentage had OS400? So why make a decision to put SOCKS config on windows only? Leave OpsNav and CODE for those who want to use it, but dont make it compulsory for those who dont. So... why make windows a pre-requisite for configuring the AS400? NB GUIs are a _good_ way of attracting those who haven't used text-screens before. They are good for novices (I use them all the time).. OopsNav is _good_.... but GUIs will never be as versatile as commands, and dont lend themselves to automation - which is what I always strive for. <snip> +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
