The catch here is that SEU is not equal to a good workstation-based
editor. Sure you can get the job done. I used edit code with line
editors, but that doesn't make them equal to the task.
There are *lots* of things that SEU/400 still lacks, but at least some
of them are inherently impossible with a block-mode interface. And
the SEU exit points do not provide enough functionality to enable
third-party add-ins to do many useful things which would still be
possible with a block-mode interface. It did not quite make it into a
truly extensible editor.
