All the records in S/36 format (internally-defined files) ARE one field. To break them up, you'll have to externally define the files or you can place IDDU formats over them. I haven't done this, but I believe it can be done. You could define logicals (or opnqryf's) over them, breaking out the fields yourself, but this would be a lot harder than creating external descriptions. Your S/36 pgms will still work, they are ignorant of external definitions. You might be able to do some kind of an excel-macro thing, but I'm not that proficient in Excel. Even so, this would still be harder than externally defining the files. If I needed them, I'd just bite the bullet and define the files, all or as needed. -- William A.(Tony) Corbett corbett@asresources.com http://www.asresources.com http://www.cbt400.com +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
