If you have a router between the 400s that only routes IP then you have to
use ANYNET. If the 400s are on the same Ethernet segment then you can
configure APPN/APPC controller on the same line as the IP controller and run
SNA as well as IP on your segment. We have both here, two local machines
plugged into the same switch and one remote connected via IP only routers.
The local machines talk SNA over the Ethernet segment and both talk ANYNET
to the remote IP connected 400. Make sure you have current TCP PTF
installed. We are running SNADS between all the boxes.

Subject: SNA over IP

I have a question, and was wondering if anyone has done this, and what needs
to be
done.

We have two machines that are connected via Ethernet and use TCP/IP to
communicate. We would like to run SNADS between the boxes, as well as use
SAVRSTOBJ. These both require SNA. We are currently only routing IP on the
network, so can I use ANYNET to encapsulate my SNA traffic between
machines? If
so, other than turning on ANYNET in Network attributes, is there anything
that
needs to be done at a line or controller level?
