Hi Benny & Sean, thanks for the quick reply. I have had another quick expt. Previously I have used tn5250, today I have been using xt5250 and there is difference between the two. If I do not specify a host in tn, I get a synopsis of the command options:- [andrew@evo] ~ ->tn5250 tn5250 - TCP/IP 5250 emulator Syntax: tn5250 [options] HOST[:PORT] To connect using ssl prefix HOST with 'ssl:'. Example: tn5250 +ssl_verify_server ssl:as400.example.com etc..... x5250 also gives the syopsis.
What error?
I should have said command syntax... In xt5250, I have just found out it does give me an option to type the hosts name. So in a way I have answered my own question. But I am not sure why the two different front ends are different. The Howto you mentioned is the one I have been using as my guide, there is some good stuff there. So far I have not used a .tn5250 file to define hosts as I have set up names in dns so I can use logicat.as400.brm.pri for example. Thanks, Andrew
