The first time I ran the tn5250, I was asked for a host to sign in to in an on screen dialogue. Subsequently not supplying a host on the command line causes an error. I would like to be able to create a menu item for xt5250 (or x5250) but this is tricky if I have to add a host to the command line. If I have seen the box asking for a host once, there should be a way to get it again. The 5250 howto does not seem to cover this. Can anyone help? Regards, Andrew Stringer
Hi Andrew, Take a look at the documentation James Rich has put together: http://www.chowhouse.com/~james/tn5250-HOWTO.pdf Specifically, look at the section regarding the ".tn5250rc" file (page 5). Here's a snippet of what mine looks like: PGBENNYA { host = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx env.DEVNAME=PGBENNYA +local_print_key } pdfprint { host = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx env.DEVNAME = BHPRINT outputcommand = scs2pdf > /home/hillb/as400_output/` date +%y%m%d%H%M%S`.pdf } To start my "A" session I have an icon on my desktop that executes "xt5250 PGBENNYA" and will connect to the host I have defined in my .tn5250rc file.
